Treatment Approach/Philosophy: I take a strengths-based approach to therapy and view the therapeutic alliance as very important. Clinical interventions and techniques are adapted from short-term, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral orientations. Other influences on my work include insight-oriented and reality-based therapy models. Mutually agreed upon goals are developed in partnership with the patient and are tailored to the specific needs of the individual. The cornerstone of my practice is based upon the values of equality, empathy, mutual respect, self-determination and autonomy. I believe that even in the wake of tragedy and trauma, individuals inherently posses the power to heal, grow and nurture themselves and their relationships. The "journey" of therapy serves as a tool to support and encourage this process of personal growth, development and recovery.
